How the Intensive Outpatient Program Works
The IOP sits between traditional weekly outpatient therapy and inpatient hospitalization. It offers more structure than a single weekly session without requiring an overnight stay, which makes it a good fit for people who need meaningful clinical support while keeping up with work, school, or family responsibilities.
Our IOP takes a multipronged approach: reducing and stabilizing mental health symptoms, providing consistent therapy support, and strengthening familial relationships. Programs typically run from 4 weeks to 4 months, depending on individual needs, with participants generally attending multiple sessions per week. The schedule is built to work alongside daily life.
Clients return home each day, which means new coping skills get tested in real situations as they happen. Inside the program, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and access to psychiatric evaluations and medication management all operate as a coordinated whole. Therapists and psychiatrists share information directly. Clients aren’t left to relay updates between providers.
Individual Therapy & Psychiatric Services
One-on-one therapy within the IOP covers a wide range of presenting concerns: anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief, eating disorders, substance use behaviors, and major life transitions. Our licensed therapists draw from an evidence-based toolkit that includes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Schema Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Reality Therapy. Twelve-step support, as well as mindfulness and grounding techniques, are also available.
DBT builds skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. CBT helps clients identify and shift thought patterns that drive symptoms. The right approach depends on the individual, and our clinicians don’t default to a single modality.
For clients where medication is clinically appropriate, psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management are integrated into the treatment plan. Those conversations are exploratory and client-centered. Medication is one tool within a larger strategy, not a standalone fix, and decisions are made collaboratively.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment at Hope Springs
Co-occurring conditions are common. Anxiety and depression frequently appear together, and substance use disorders are often linked to underlying mental health challenges. Treating only one part of that picture can leave the other unaddressed. Our care team builds a single, cohesive strategy for clients presenting with multiple interconnected issues, whether that’s depression and anxiety together or a mental health disorder alongside substance use. Treatment plans are reassessed as needs and progress evolve, so care stays aligned with where the client actually is.
Mental Health Treatment Close to Home
Hope Springs is located in Jamison, PA. For our clients, receiving care close to home isn’t just convenient. It’s clinically relevant. Coping skills developed in treatment get applied in the same neighborhoods, relationships, and routines where daily life happens. Staying in the community also reduces the logistical barriers that can interrupt consistent attendance, which matters for treatment continuity.

What Sets Hope Springs Apart from Other Bucks County Providers
Most outpatient centers offer therapy. Hope Springs pairs licensed therapists with board-certified psychiatrists who collaborate on every treatment plan. At Hope Springs, those three psychiatrists aren’t a separate department. They work alongside our clinical team, so care is coordinated from day one.
Every treatment plan is built around the individual. Our clinicians review each person’s history, goals, and clinical needs before setting a direction, then reassess as progress develops. What works at week two may need adjustment by week six. That flexibility is built into how we practice.
- Programs for Teens & Adults: We offer separate IOP tracks for teens (ages 13 and older) and adults (ages 18 and older), each designed for the clinical realities of that population. Adolescent and adult mental health present differently, and treatment should reflect that.
- Family Involvement as a Standard: Family therapy is a built-in component of our IOP, not an add-on. We also offer marriage counseling within the IOP framework, because the relationships surrounding a person in treatment matter to their recovery.
- Insurance Access & Financial Options: We accept most commercial insurance plans and are now accepting Pennsylvania Medicaid/HealthChoices. For those who qualify, sliding-scale fee options are available. We work directly with individuals and families to navigate benefits, so cost is less likely to stand between someone and care.
We’re also committed to a welcoming environment for individuals from all backgrounds, where diversity is honored, and open expression is encouraged without fear of judgment.

New patients are welcome. We work with individuals and families to understand their insurance benefits before care begins. No one should have to figure that out alone. Our center is designed to feel calm, clean, and focused, so the environment itself supports the work happening inside it.
