Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) Treatment in Bucks County
Joint Commission-Accredited Outpatient BPD Care for Teens and Adults in Montgomery County
Living with intense emotions, rapidly shifting moods, unstable relationships, and a deep fear of abandonment can be exhausting and isolating. For many people with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), this is daily life. They often feel misunderstood, overwhelmed by their emotional experiences, or unsure of who they are from one moment to the next. These challenges can affect nearly every part of daily life, from relationships and work to self-esteem and emotional well-being, and may leave individuals feeling hopeless or alone.
Borderline Personality Disorder is a treatable mental health condition. With the right support and therapeutic tools, individuals with BPD can learn to manage emotions more effectively, build healthier relationships, and develop a more stable sense of self.
At Hope Springs Behavioral Health, we offer compassionate, evidence-based borderline personality disorder treatment in Bucks County, through our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Our program is accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed by both the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DDAP). We provide structured, frequent therapeutic support without requiring inpatient hospitalization, so individuals can continue living at home while actively working toward meaningful, lasting change.

How Intensive Outpatient Treatment Supports BPD Recovery
Intensive Outpatient Programs are well-matched to BPD because the format delivers consistent, structured therapeutic contact while keeping clients grounded in their daily lives. Practicing emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness between sessions — not just in a clinical setting — is a critical part of how skills become durable. Our outpatient BPD treatment in Bucks County is built around that principle.
Our IOP runs three sessions per week, with group sessions lasting 2.5 hours and individual sessions lasting 1 to 2 hours, depending on your insurance plan. The program spans approximately 30 sessions total. From your first appointment, you’re assigned a dedicated individual therapist who stays with you throughout the program, providing continuity that matters in BPD treatment. Psychiatric evaluation and medication management are included as part of the IOP when clinically appropriate, so therapeutic and psychiatric care stay coordinated under one roof.
Scheduling is designed to fit real life. Morning, afternoon, and evening options are available, and telehealth is an option for clients who face transportation barriers or other extenuating circumstances, though the program is primarily in person.

Evidence-Based Therapeutic Approaches for Long-Term Success
Our programs draw on evidence-based, skills-based therapeutic approaches targeting the core areas most affected by BPD: emotion regulation and distress tolerance, impulse control, and interpersonal effectiveness. Group sessions cover topics including skills-based work, working through trauma, relationships, communication, and activity-based groups. The treatment team includes you, your family, outside providers, and our clinical staff. For student clients, school involvement is encouraged.
Our approach to borderline personality disorder treatment includes:
- Individual therapy sessions focused on emotional awareness, identity development, and personal growth
- Group therapy that emphasizes skill-building, peer support, and shared understanding
- Structured interventions that help clients recognize emotional triggers and respond more effectively
The goal isn’t to suppress emotions. It’s to help you understand them, tolerate distress, and respond in ways that align with your values and long-term goals. Throughout treatment, clients learn practical tools for regulating intense emotional responses, managing fear of abandonment and relationship insecurity, communicating needs clearly and respectfully, establishing healthy boundaries, and developing a stronger, more stable sense of self. Over time, these skills can help reduce emotional crises, improve relationships, and foster greater confidence and emotional balance.
