How Our Intensive Outpatient Program Works

Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) is a structured, non-residential treatment program that allows clients to receive meaningful clinical care while continuing to manage work, school, family, and other daily responsibilities. The IOP consists of routine group/individual therapy sessions, multiple times weekly. These sessions cover practical topics, including skills building, processing trauma, relationships, and communication. Psychiatric evaluation and medication management are included within the program, so clinical care is coordinated from day one.

The intake appointment runs approximately one and a half hours and includes a risk assessment along with a biopsychosocial history that covers family, employment or school, legal, social, medical, and current concerns. Morning, afternoon, and evening scheduling options are available to fit different routines.

Mental Health Services Available Through Our IOP

Our program addresses a broad range of conditions and circumstances.

Services available include:

  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Psychiatric services
  • Grief and loss counseling
  • Eating disorder therapy (anorexia and bulimia)
  • PTSD support
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • Reality therapy
  • Marriage counseling

Depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and trauma are among the conditions commonly addressed through outpatient care. Our teen-focused track is designed to meet the emotional, developmental, and social challenges adolescents face, from identity and peer relationships to family conflict and emotion regulation.

Insurance & Costs for Mental Health Treatment

We accept most commercial insurance plans and are now accepting Pennsylvania Medicaid/HealthChoices. The intensive outpatient program is a covered benefit under most insurance plans, though coverage levels can vary by plan and carrier. Our team works closely with clients and families to understand and navigate their specific benefits. For those who qualify, sliding scale fee options are also available. We work to reduce the financial barriers that can stand between people and the care they need.

What Sets Hope Springs Apart

Finding the right outpatient mental health center means more than choosing a convenient location. It means finding a team with the right clinical depth, a structure that fits your life, and a commitment that doesn't end when the program does.

Here's what sets us apart:

  • Board-Certified Psychiatrists on the Team: Our psychiatrists collaborate directly with licensed therapists to deliver coordinated, clinically grounded treatment, not parallel tracks that don't talk to each other.
  • Individualized Treatment Plans: Clients start with a plan built around their personal history, goals, and clinical needs. As progress is made, clinicians reassess and adjust, so care evolves with each person.
  • IOP Tracks for Teens and Adults: We offer separate intensive outpatient program tracks for adolescents ages 13 to 17 and adults ages 18 and older, each designed for the distinct clinical and developmental needs of that population.
  • Consistent Therapeutic Relationship: Clients are assigned an individual therapist who stays with them from intake through program completion, providing continuity throughout the process.
  • Family Built Into the Program: Family therapy is a standard IOP component, not an add-on. Marriage counseling is also available for those who need it.
  • Post-IOP Medication Management: After completing IOP, clients can retain access to our psychiatrist for medication management for up to one year while they establish care with a longer-term provider. This transition can otherwise leave people without clinical support.
  • Welcoming for Everyone: We serve individuals from all backgrounds in an environment that honors diversity, promotes dignity, and encourages open expression without fear of judgment.
